OUR GLOW UP PROJECT IN SCHOOLS FOR TEENS (WHAT OUR PROFITS HELP SUPPORT)

HELPING SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH BODY IMAGE, WELLBEING AND SKIN EDUCATION THROUGH OUR AQA ACCREDITED PROGRAM

A Responsibility to Support Self‑Esteem in the Age of Social Media

Secondary school is already tough and with the growing pressure from social media to look “perfect”, we’re seeing more young people struggling with low self-esteem, constant comparison, isolation, and even depression.

Many don’t feel they have a support system, and end up carrying these feelings alone - which can deepen that sense of isolation. That’s where our project comes in: helping to bridge the gap with support, tools, and a space for young people to be heard, so they can let go of fears and recognise their full potential.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

(CREATED IN 2019)

The Glow Up Project helps students navigate body image, self-esteem, and wellbeing through guided activities that feel engaging and real. Our programme uses creativity and conversation to help young people feel more connected, while also helping them challenge comparison culture and take steps toward healthier self-esteem. Alongside this, we share practical strategies to handle pressure, unhelpful self-talk, and negative thinking. We focus on building resilience and supporting a stronger, kinder relationship with their body and self-image - so they leave with tools they can use beyond the classroom.

The Glow Up Project empowers young people aged 11-15 in local London Secondary School’s, through self-esteem and wellness activities.

It comprises of 5 workshops using crafts to develop creative responses and solutions to mental wellbeing.

And explores body image concerns to help unlock fears & worries that are causing them to struggle academically and / or socially in School.

Using Frank's first hand experience of dealing with the emotional effects of having acne for 5 + years, he felt it important to help young people manage negative body image concerns, with a focus on skin education & acne positivity.

BREAKDOWN

• Week 1. Exploring self perception using mixed media crafts

• Week 2. Young students develop creative tools to tackle negative thinking

• Week 3. Learning how food + diet can optimise physical and mental health through interactive games

• Week 4. Learning about natural skincare choices through fun DIY product making workshop to self-remedy common concerns that can arise in adolescence

• Week 5. Visioning workshop using collage and a special guest speaker who shares their glow up - overcoming a personal challenge related to body-image concerns

Our 5 week programme has an AQA accreditation, so students can be awarded with a nationally recognised certificate. Thus, strengthening the students CV and benefit their application for future study/work opportunities

In addition to our program, Frank has also helped connect young people to opportunities. Frank curated, hosted & led London Borough of Culture’s first youth-led event at London, City Hall. This was attended by 60, 15-25 year olds from all 4 areas, North, East, South & West London - alongside Justine Simmons OBE & Mayor of London.
